Our enabling environment
Within the setting we provide six unique age & stage appropriate rooms as well as dining hall facilities and a bespoke atelier art studio. We are conveniently located in Benton and welcome children from across Newcastle upon Tyne, North Tyneside and the wider community.

Purpose-built baby rooms
Our baby unit has its own secure entrance, and there are two baby play rooms - Buttercup Group for our youngest babies aged 0-12 months & Bluebell Group for our older babies aged 12 - 18 months. Within these rooms your baby can learn, relax and spend time building nurturing attachments and bonds with our caring staff members: Our baby unit provides an additional baby bedroom, kitchen & bathroom for privacy and intimate hygiene as well as their own garden area. We use double pushchairs for trips and outings. From the caring environment of the Buttercup Group our Bluebell babies are provided with further skills to become independent and active learners. Within the baby unit the child to staff ratio is 3:1.
The main house is situated within the original house. It comprises a large entrance hall on ground level which leads to two further downstairs playrooms. Our oldest babies are housed within the Daisy Group for babies aged 18 months - 2 years and our Poppy Group welcomes children aged 2 years - 2.5 years. Daisy and Poppy both share a bathroom area and they have their meals in a separate dining hall. This provides further opportunities to develop independence and social skills with peers.
Within the first floor the Tulip Group for children aged from 2.5 years to 3 years have access to their own bathroom area, giving them added independence. Sunflower Group for preschool children aged from 3.5 years to 5 years has its own bathroom area along with a short corridor. In this playroom, there is an added advantage of an interactive white board, a laptop and a desktop computer in which children can develop internet and computer skills.
Indoors
At Field House Nursery, we have incorporated many natural elements within all of our playrooms ranging from timber furniture, recycled tree logs, shells, plants and stones to support our learning environment. All our playrooms have wet/dry areas, carpeted/mat areas, storage facilities and cosy relaxed areas that are decorated in light, warm colours. Babies and children are given access to our soft play, where they can take part in various play activities within a safe environment, helping them develop their physical and social skills.
Our Atelier (Art Studio) is fully equipped with a variety of open-ended materials from wooden blocks to metallic items. Here, all our children get a chance to explore, experiment and express themselves; make mistakes; and create and share ideas with each other. We believe that there is no right or wrong way for children to do something; this means they can find their own way of working, using their own preferred materials.
Our library service and support loan bags offer children as well as their parents further opportunities to have access to additional books and resources, which may be of benefit to children at certain times in their lives e.g. change of family dynamics or going to the hospital.
Outdoors
We encourage all our children to make connections with the natural environment and the world around them, so we provide them with outdoor learning experiences. Our grassed hills, climbing trees and decking areas offer a ‘woodland’ feel, and our ‘hard’ area provides nursery
staff and children with a ‘blank canvas’ with extended equipment and resources.
We have access to our local park, which has large play equipment and nature trails. We also take part in Forest School sessions within its wooded area—here our children are given the opportunity to learn, take risks and attempt new challenges such as building shelters, tree climbing and discovering mud.
Our nursery is situated next to a local Metro station, which enables our children the opportunity of local visits and trips. These not only give children good learning experiences but also provide them with opportunities to further develop their communication and social skills.
Providing healthy and tasty food
We have a purpose-built dining area, which all groups within the main house use for breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea. Delicious food is prepared within our main kitchen. Menus are planned by our full-time cook and are reviewed during the summer and winter months. Our younger babies have the added advantage of a freshly prepared weaning menu, which rotates on a two-week cycle and our older children are offered a balanced menu over a four-week cycle. Additional dietary needs also are catered for. Contact us

''Children benefit from a rich, very well-planned environment. They enjoy a wealth of opportunities to make choices and lead their own learning, adeptly supported by staff. They are curious, motivated and show a very positive attitude to learning'' Ofsted 2017.
